Sophia Loren is 74. Here she is making a cameo appearance at the 2009 Oscar Awards Presentation. And – wow! She is still stunning and beautiful past seventy. Just follow this video clip for a few more seconds, and you will meet, Ernestine Shepherd, the “World’s Oldest Female Bodybuilder” as documented by the 2010 Guinness Book of World Records who is also stunning and beautiful at 74. However, Ernestine has a distinct advantage over Sophia Loren. Ernestine, who is also a “natural beauty”, no matter how long she ages has to age slower and better than my idol Sophia of so many years. Why? Because Ernestine is progressively and scientifically becoming younger as she is becoming older.
The Paradox of Becoming Younger as You Are Growing Older
What I mean by this paradox is that progressive weight resistance exercise along with small-meals frequently eaten as clean and healthy low-fat, high fiber foods will constantly improve the body overall. Women over 50 have to be aware and cognizant of the inevitable loss of bone density which leads to a condition of brittle bones also known as osteoporosis. With weight training, the bones will stay strong and dense – just like a person 10 or 20 years younger. Once a woman passes 50 or 60, and most certainly 70, their skeletal frame will become weaker and more fragile in the absence of weight training.
Weight Training Improves the Elasticity of Your Skin as You Age More Gracefully
Forget about face-lifts and botox injections to remove facial wrinkles. There is an easier and more natural way to achieve not only the same but even better results. Weight training gives more elasticity to the skin, and you tend not to wrinkle the same as if you were not training with barbells and dumbbells. Your skin is given a greater glow of youthful appearance.
You Can Have A Hot Bikini Body At 50, 60 or 70 – I’m Not Kidding!
To keep your hot bikini body, the muscles must be kept from sagging; they must be kept supple, firm and strong. Weight training can do this for you. Muscles are what gives a woman her curves. I have seen women who weight train regularly in their 50′s, 60′s and 70′s, and all of them who are committed and have been at it for at least a year or so, look great in bikinis!
Bottom Line: Natural beauty or not, to look your best – no matter what your age – you must eat right and commit yourself to a permanent lifestyle of correct eating and weight resistance exercises using barbells and dumbbells.
